Distributor on Car 1-R-1.

DW.426 : No. 9.

Misfires on this car have been traced to a faulty contact-breaker. The face of the stationary contact point had worn down to the steel base, causing excessive pitting and oxidation.

This is understandable, since, although the mileage on the car is only 13,515, the distributor had been subjected to an endurance test on the bench, equivalent to 10,000 miles at high speed before being fitted to the car.

Thus the total mileage is at least 23,500.

New 'moving' and 'stationary' contacts have been fitted, and the distributor refitted to the engine.
