Attached is a copy of a report giving the results obtained on a B.50 fitted with the cast iron engine and twin exhaust system. For a Sports car, the twin exhaust system seems definitely to be justified as it gives an increase of no less than 5 m.p.h. It is apparent that the cast iron engine is going to enables us to improve the performance of the standard B.V. car, since this B.50 fitted with a body weighing over 38 cwts. and having a frontal area considerably in excess of the B.V. achieved a lap speed of 89 1/2 m.p.h. The lap speed of the present standard B.V. is 89 m.p.h., the P.III non-overdrive 86 m.p.h. The Wraith, which is directly comparable in body space and weight with B.50 laps about 74 m.p.h. in its present standard production condition. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
