COPY. CWW/GC 27th March, 1941. REPORT ON B.V BODIES. 1. Offside front seat is weakened where cut away from brake lever, this allows squab of seat to fall back causing more rake, and requires back strengthening with angle iron bracket. The strengthening of the tops of both front seats would be to advantage as there is a considerable amount of apparent weakness. When pressure is applied to the top centre of both front seats, the side checks fold inwards. The wood trimming section being cut in the centre does not assist in strengthening the back. 2. Windscreens - these are uneven in fitting and require packing, only in places, to prevent water entering - body uneven to screen. The rubber section of screen perished very quickly. - This difficulty is due to the bodies having been hand made instead of pressed panels. 3. Locks and door handles both work loose. - This matter is being investigated. 4. We have had complaints of loose inside and outside door handles. - " " " 5. Rubber skinned sorbo to front mat wears through very quickly. - This is due to the fact that we had to utilise the only quality available at the time. 6. Wire mesh stoneguards. - We are having trouble with these and a more suitable type of stoneguard will have to be evolved. 7. Hinges. - The body was designed to take self-aligning hinges to make the butt 1/4" thick. All we could obtain from the manufacturers, however, were hinges with a 3/32" butt. This has caused us serious difficulty in fitting, due to them not being sufficiently strong to carry the weight of the door. Cars which have been giving us trouble have now been modified and appear to be operating satisfactorily. | ||
