To Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} 1263 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}18/JH.10.5.37. Will you please draw out a scheme for the Phantom III having the petrol pipe outside the frame. The hot zone we wish to eliminate is from the main X member to the pump and we suggest that the pipe is led from the outside of the frame straight up the front of the dash to the pump. In the scheme we have fitted temporarily to 35-EX the pipe goes outside the frame just behind the forward shackle of the rear spring. We would also like you to investigate the possibility of taking the exhaust pipe at the side of the petrol tank instead of underneath in the Wraith chassis, this would enable us to use a better shaped tank for strap hanging on the Wraith without loss of ground clearance.
