X8950 Re: Chassis No. 81-RF. Please substitute the following for my CWH14/GM/17.4.28. - The engine of this car has become very lumpy between 20 and 30 m.p.h. and occasionally shows signs of the galloping knock. Would you please attend to the slipper drive in accordance with the very latest instructions on this matter, to deal with this defect. At the same time it is desirable that the engine should be decarbonised. Arrangements had been made to fit a new lubricated exhaust butterfly valve and one of these had been supplied to S. from N. This is being sent up with the car and we should be glad if it could be fitted. The suspension of this car has never been completely satisfactory despite the fact that it is fitted with springs similar to other cars which are very comfortable and the trouble would seem to lie in the springs themselves or in the shock dampers. All springs should therefore be taken apart, dressed as necessary, greased and replaced and at the same time the loading of the shock dampers should be ascertained to be standard. This car was recently fitted with a 14 tooth axle, the hubs of which appear to be of a slightly different pattern to those of the axle which it replaced, as considerable difficulty has been found in fitting the wheels to this axle. Will you please investigate this matter and ensure that all the wheels of this car are interchangeable all round. In addition, the following work requires doing to the body or fittings. All windows rattle badly and there are too many general rattles throughout, which constant return to Messrs. Barker has not succeeded in curing. The clips which hold the cable of the windscreen wiper are not satisfactory, they are only fitted with one screw and the more modern type which has two screws and which definitely clamps the cable should be fitted. In my memo CWH15/GM/17.4.28 please correct CONT: | ||
