W. Helmore, Esq.,
Engineering Laboratory,
CAMBRIDGE.

Dear Helmore,

You will probably be wondering because you have not heard from me in reply to your letter of the 13th May.

As a matter of fact, I have been trying to get some evidence on this subject of corrosion, and so far, have got no results which are considered to be at all helpful to you.

I am sending you drawings of two of our loose liners, and if you would like to have a go at either of them in your rig we will send you samples of the various materials we have under consideration, right away. It does seem, how-ever, that if a material is selected primarily for its resistance to corrosion, it is possible that it may have other very definite disadvantages for the normal conditions under which a car operates. We are using tin plated pistons now on production with considerable success.

It is appalling how little we know about cylinder bore wear, and we are not going to be satisfied until we can obtain some reasonable picture of what it is all about.

Yours sincerely,
