Peregrine - Control of Extra Cylinder Lubrication.

As a result of experience up-to-date with the extra cylinder lubrication system fitted to Peregrine, it is recommended that the cut off valve should be made to operate at 25ºC.

This is a much lower temperature than was anticipated in the first place but unless the car is run hard the oil remains comparatively cool for a long time, and overoiling results if the extra oil remains on.

We understand that a filler can be obtained to operate at the proposed temperature, and we have in fact some suitable bellows units awaiting test.

With however the present design of relief unit the bellows has to open against the L.P. oil which reaches a pressure of 8 lbs per sq" under certain conditions.

We are, therefore, temporarily modifying the oil flows as shown on print LeC.3226 attached, so that only relief oil flows round the bellows, and if this is satisfactory we propose to scheme a suitable permanent modification.
