Many thanks for your note GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}2/L/11.3.36.

I am sorry the accommodation is not all you could desire, and in consequence I have written to JLE.{J. Lee Evans - Chassis Test Manager} as per the attached note.

It is really imperative that you should have a pit, or some means for getting over the cars for examination after your day's run, and we shall have to see what can be arranged.

The pendulum lever was intended to prove a theory with regard to steering geometry. If you are satisfied that the steering is reasonably good it is not necessary to try it. Keep it until a suitable opportunity occurs when you can fit it without holding the car up.

The petrol pumps and radiator shutters on the 25 HP. are somewhat disappointing. We really ought to measure some under-bonnet temperatures to see what is happening, because if it is due to the radiator shutters only, it may not take place in the Summer when they will never be so nearly shut as to be affected by wind pressure.

With regard to the engine not starting when hot, I should suspect the drain pipe on top of the float chamber. Remove this and see if it overcomes the trouble.

I found that the rear axle of your car is not the one which is going into production with the big bore car. This is a complete surprise to me, as I understood Coverley had fitted the first axle of this type on 22-G-V and the second one on Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}'s car. This is not so, however. They have got an axle ready, but no gears. They will have the gears towards the end of next week, and when the axle is built up we shall ask you to bring the car to Derby and have it fitted.

The Bentley jack pads will be ready early next week, also the other parts. We shall not worry you until we are absolutely ready, and then the car can come up here and they can be fitted before it goes away to France.
