COPY. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}4/T4/5/26. I have discussed with EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} as suggested by you, the chief points which make it difficult for us to produce satisfactory cars. These points which follow are considered to be the outstanding ones, and we feel in every case that they are established beyond question, and are appreciated by the Experimental Department. "New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I". 1. Piston Knocks, known as the No.5 Piston knock, because it is more apparent on this particular cylinder. The Cylinders with thickened trunks, of which we have fitted several sets, are some improvement in this respect, but they do not in every case eliminate the knock sufficiently. A further modification of this thickened trunk is now in hand. 2. Clutch shudders or groans on engagement. 3. Noisy tappets. 4. Servo jaggers. 20HP Chassis. 1. Dynamo drive rattles. 2. Piston blows and squawks. Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} | ||
