The tests in connection with the damped pendulum lever have not been so successful as we at first anticipated. It would appear from the information we have so far obtained that the advantage in the damped pendulum lever as regards high speed wobbles is chiefly due to the reduced rating of the driving springs and it is most effective as regards reducing high speed wobbles with the minimum amount of friction damping. The problem however is so difficult that our tests will have to be confirmed. The only time we can satisfactorily carry out high speed wobble tests is in the very early morning when the roads are clear and there is less chance of coming into contact with the police.
