1370 DUNLOP RUBBER CO.,LTD. TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS: "DUNLOPS, PHONE, BIRMINGHAM" TELEPHONE: ERDINGTON 2121 (P.B.X) EXTENSION No. 395. YOUR REF: OUR REF: HEP/HM.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}186. FORT DUNLOP ERDINGTON BIRMINGHAM 24 Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd., DERBY. For the attention of S.H.Grylls, Esq. 13th September, 1939. Dear Sirs, From our contacts with your Buying Office we appreciate that the present position has necessitated suspension of deliveries, but we are desirous of obtaining your views on a modification which was suggested for incorporation on the 4.00 rims, prior to the European Situation, and as we may be called upon to supply these rims in other directions, we should welcome your comments on our proposals so that we may, if you agree, adopt this modification as standard on all rims of this size. We enclose a copy of our drawing RSO.548 showing the current rim and copy of drawing CDO.3403 of the proposed modification. The effect of the alteration in the valve depression will be to allow the valve to position itself with increased rake. Having in mind your possible disc fitment, we should be glad to know whether you are prepared to agree our suggestion. Yours faithfully, For DUNLOP RUBBER CO., LIMITED. Manager Car Mnfrs. Division. | ||
