GOSHAWK 11. PLATE CLUTCH.

Referring to Messrs. Ferodo's letter of the 11th inst., which I send you copy of herewith, I think it would be worth while running some interleaving again - if you agree will you send springs to them to fit up.

When you got slipping effects were they when you let clutch in under full load, and also did you try running at high speed, declutching and then reclutching with accelerator up, then push accelerator full down.

The two methods give;-

a/- load on keys which might relieve plate of load by amount of friction on keys.

b/- no load on keys when engaging clutch.

I think the next time EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}, gets a complaint of poor brake effects it would be worth trying the adjustments, checking by feeler which shoe comes on first and checking same thing on a good brake. In this connection Vx, told me on enquiry that he never touched adjustments, only rough up shoe facings with a file to clear glazing effects away.
