Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LG31.10.27 ----- I think we can probably persuade Mr. Geoffrey Smith not to have many of the items he asks for, but I rather wanted a lead on what we can give him without very much difficulty - for instance:- (1) I presume you do not want to raise the radiator. I have sent him photographs showing that he can get almost a straight line with the existing height of radiator. (2) I think he will probably want the bonnet wider. I have no idea really as to how this will look, but you mention you have one car in existance with the bonnet wider. Will you please let me know how much wider it was, and what was the general opinion of its appearance. I think these are the two most difficult points, as I note you can give him a cut-out and I think he will be quite content with the 6" balloon tyres. I have told him that the question of speed is far more complicated than one of gearing, and although we cannot give him any undertaking such as he mentions we will pay special attention to power when testing his chassis. Meantime I have asked him to get out scale drawings, and will certainly consult DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} C. | ||
