Dear Sir,

For the attention of Mr Hives.

I had the pleasure of showing to Mr Stewart Burt yesterday, a model of a new Variable Reduction Gear which has been patented by a client of mine. Mr Burt thought it was a very remarkable invention, and well worth being brought to your notice. I would describe it in this letter, but find it very difficult to do so, as the model has to be seen and explained before one can clearly grasp the underlying principle of the invention.

As I understand you are regularly in town, might I ask whether on your next visit you might possibly find time to call here to see this model? letting me know before-hand when I am to expect you.

I think you would be very much interested. As far as I can ascertain, the principle is an entirely new one, and nothing like it has been recorded at the Patent Office.

Yours faithfully,

S H Morden

SHM/FAS.
