COPY TO [REDACTED] HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} MM. RE PORTABLE ACOUSTIC METER At the suggestion of HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} I have arranged with the representative of the Standard Telephone and Cable Co., to give us a demonstration of their Portable Acoustic Meter on Friday next. He will be at Lillie Hall at 10.a.m. and we would be glad if you would join us. We would like to go out on the cars on test from the Sand Pit on the Watford Road. We believe that this instrument may be of value to us in measuring the amount of noise in a body at different speeds. If this proves to be so we would ask to be allowed to buy one. We could then get a graph representing the amount of noise heard in a car at points on the speed range for each type of body on our different chassis which could be taken as a standard. Having established a standard we could refer any car which might be thought to be a bad one to this standard. The cost of the instrument we believe to be £25. subject to a discount of 20%.
