Dear Sirs,

Referring to your letter of the 4th inst., in regard to the Fuse in our Switchboard, we prefer the tinned copper Fuse Wire as a general rule because it does not so easily oxidise and become brittle, but if you will remember, in the first instance, we ourselves were rather doubtful about the contact of the small wire we are now fitted in the Fuse Holder. We have carried out some experiments and find that 30 S.W.G. lead tinned wire is suitable in place of the very small copper wire we have been fitting. It "blows" at 4½ - 5 amperes, and on receipt of your instructions we will have this fitted as standard in all switchboxes.

X.3564. We duly note that you are fitting 19 S.W.G. tinned lead Fuse Wire in the Junction Boxes, and we think this ought to be quite satisfactory.

Yours faithfully

THE LUCAS ELECTRICAL CO. LTD.
