c. JLR. LR.{Mr Ellor} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Bm/ED.{J. L. Edwards} 604 CONFIDENTIAL. BY.10/N. Messrs. Park Ward & Co.Ltd., 473, High Road, Willesden, London N.W.10. Dear Sirs, Re: Wraith Body Mounting. We thank you for your C&W/VR.{E. S. Voller - Orders} of the 9th.inst. re the above, and believe our Mr.Evernden had a chance to discuss the problem with you during his last visit to your Works. We have used the mounting on all of our experimental cars without experiencing the troubles you cite. The cause of creaks due to the tilting over of the central distance piece may be the result of one or more of the following defects:- (1) Plate on body bottom-side not parallel with the plane of the body mounting brackets on the chassis. (2) Hole in bottom side not in line with hole in Floatex distance piece. (3) Body bottom side or bottom edge of wheelarch not torsionally stiff. The movement of the Floatex is the result of experiments, and if a more rigid fixing is used, road noises in the body will be increased. If your bodies are materially heavier than those we have catered for in our experiments the deflexions may be excessive. Cont'd... | ||
