Dear Mr.Grylls, In reply to your letter of the 24th January, I should say that this tyre has been removed from a front wheel, but I could not decide from which of the two positions without first seeing it. We have experienced odd instances of tyre treads wearing faster in a localised section and this has almost invariably been attributable to original out of balance factors, which of course may or may not be commensurate with the out of balance recorded after removal due to the wear which has taken place. I have never seen a case where the rapidity of wear extends over the whole of one half of the circumference of the tread, and if I am to judge that this is so with your tyre, I should very much like to have the opportunity of examining it.
