Re Body Construction and Mounting.
Sedanca, Cabriolet, Drop Head Coupé and Other Bodies with Demountable Tops.

We have received the criticisms of our proposed chapter for the booklet called "Recommendations to Coachbuilders" for Phantom III, from LA.{L. A. Archer} and Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}, and we now append herewith the final draft of the instructions which we should be glad if you would have printed.

Will you kindly send Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} 50 copies of the text and sheet 6 of the illustrations.

It is thought desirable that we should be in a position to supply the necessary aluminium packing pieces and special bolts, and we understand that if these are available in the Works the Test Dept. will arrange for them to be despatched with any chassis known to be intended for this class of coachwork.

On LeC.5248 herewith we show schemes for the various scuttle attachments. In the case of the top scuttle attachment, a special bolt washer and distance piece is called for, whilst in the case of the side buffer an aluminium block is required to replace the rubber block, and the same remark applies to the scuttle frame attachment at the base. In all cases the distance pieces are left long to be cut off by the Coachbuilders.

Would you kindly arrange to have some of these parts brought through as soon as possible, as we believe there are certain cars which are in need of them.

Sales suggest that a note should be added to the scuttle isolation print, F.88895, to the effect that as far as the scuttle attachment is concerned, this scheme is applicable only to bodies with fixed tops, and that a separate drawing on the lines of LeC.5248 should be available for demountable top bodies, and should be referred to on the main drawing, F.88895.
