S/W(HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}) S/W (Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}) c. to EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X 4117 CWB9/LH.{Mr Haworth}6.6.25. CAR NO. 85-AU - MAJOR COLIN COOPER. Major Cooper has now arranged to hand this car over to us on Monday next, and it will then be driven to Derby. This is the car concerning which there has been considerable correspondence regarding the fitting of the fabric coupling. I attach a copy of a report on this car, from which you will see the defects from which it suffers. You will, I am sure, find the car a very interesting one. It is the type of body with which we have recently had all the trouble. There are periodic vibrations which can be felt definitely throughout the car, but the most objectionable noise is only apparent in a small zone across the back seat - roughly, at the level of one's head when sitting down. In accordance with the arrangements made, will you please fit a fabric coupling to this car and advise me whether this removes the objectionable features. Please arrange for me to be advised when the car is completed, as I wish to test it before it is returned to Major Cooper. This car also appeared at the time of my report - 13.3.25 - to be one in which oil had a tendency to leak through, on to the servo. If this is still the case, will you please apply the remedy which has been devised to overcome this trouble. In any case, I consider it would be advisable to strip down the servo and ascertain its condition. The cost of this work will not be chargeable to Major Cooper. CWB. Cudl. encl. | ||
