We have now completed a test of the high compression head to EB.2050 on the test bed. It will be remembered that we ran a high compression head on a 10,000 miles test, and circulated a Standardisation sheet for it, but this head was produced to experimental drawings. The new high compression head has been detailed in the ordinary way and incorporates some of the information obtained on the single cylinder which comes under the heading of close centres head. There are various discrepancies between this and the ultimate recommendations on the close centres head and we are investigating these, but for the moment we recommend that this head should now be offered to customers who want better performance, as the 9 HP. available is well worth having. We are also getting complaints from people who have taken delivery of the latest Bentley cars that they are not as good in performance as their original Bentleys, and this is one way of satisfying them. At present it is 9 months since we completed a 10,000 miles test on a 7 to 1 compression head but so far nothing has got to the customer.
