To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} c. to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} X7520. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}3/MJ. 22.5.30. Y832. X7520. X5520. FRICTION AUXILIARY SHOCK ABSORBERS. It is apparent that we shall have to fit friction shock absorbers to supplement our hydraulics on one or two cars. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} mentioned to me the other day that he had a case where he was recommending this procedure and of course, they were very successful in satisfying Sir Henry Segrave. The point that arises is that Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}'s original design was for the French "Afa" shock absorber which we do not think is such a good job as the 'Hartford' for a number of reasons. We should like you to look into the matter and see if there is any reason why 'Hartford's' cannot be used with Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}'s scheme; if so, to take the matter up with him with a view to making 'Hartfords' the standard.
