To B.Y. from D.A. c. to C.J. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} S E C R E T. V5450 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}9/M30.4.25. I N D I A.{Mr Adams} FRONT AXLE. X.5420 X.5450 Herewith we send N.sch.1995 (despatched on Sat.) shewing the new side steering lever which Mr. Royce wishes to apply to the above axle. The shape of the set in front has been simplified as appeared from the model was possible. We have also provided a little more clearance with the axle on the full L.H. lock, but as far as the dimensions generally are concerned it is intended to be the same as G.52096. We have however increased the length to 8.5, rocked the ball centre forward about 10º and set out the ball centres of the cross steering attachment .2", all these modifications being with the object of making the L.H. lock as good as possible, as we think this should be done at the first opportunity, even though so far we have had no complaints about Goshawk. Mr. Royce would like this lever got on immediately if possible. We have not yet tried out the side steering tube but we do not anticipate that we shall have any difficulty in making this clear.
