YOUR REF 13th January 1941. 126P ZKA/EMS Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Col.6/ET Messrs.Rolls-Royce Limited., DERBY. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Col Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 31st ultimo, enclosing Prints of a Carbon Gland Ring No.KE.2020 and Rubber sealing Washer No.KE.2U21. We are arranging to machine up the two Carbon Rings and these will be despatched to you as soon as possible. With regard to the rubber parts we regret we are not in a position to supply these. In connection with the Morgan-Stuart Gland we have been in the habit of supplying the rubber parts, but these of course have only been in the form of a flat rubber washer, these washers being purchased from outside. For your information we are enclosing a copy of Drawing No.40/217 which gives some general particulars with regard to the Morgan-Stuart Gland. We are at present developing a gland with a rubber bonded on to the carbon ring as rough sketch below and when our Mr.H.T.Sparkes next calls upon you he will be pleased to show you a sample of this gland. At the moment tests are being carried out with this new type of gland and so far the results are very promising indeed. Yours faithfully, THE MORGAN CRUCIBLE COMPANY LIMITED, per:- [Signature] Enc.Drawing 40/217 [Sketch of a component] CARBON RING RUBBER SCREWED TO IMPELLOR BOSS | ||
