Dear Sirs, Referring to the writer's telephone conversation with Mr.Martin-Hurst yesterday, this is to confirm that we are prepared to accept the bulk of the thermostats to EB.3509 on order with the .003 undersize locating spigot in view of the fact that all the spigot plates are made. Actually, our Drawing Office had already had the matter brought to their notice and agreed to pass the units in question, our Inspectors having been instructed accordingly. Thermostats against any future orders, of course, must be definitely to drawing. We are returning to you to-day one of the sample thermostats to BGA.3754 which you sent us recently for test purposes. Would you please be good enough to alter its opening setting from 78-80°C to 68-70°C and let us have it back as soon as possible, as we wish to use it on some test bed work where the hydraulic pressure, on the water system generally, invariably raises the opening temperature.
