SPECIFICATION OF COACHWORK

CHASSIS. Special 20-25 HP. having the following features specially fitted to conform with Mr. Royce's requirements.
Dash to Back Axle 93.000 ins.
Modified bonnet, radiator and dash.
Stainless steel or chromium plated finish of the same colour throughout.
Special steering.

TYPE OF BODY. Four door, six seater Enclosed Drive Limousine see N.Son.2969.

SEATING. SIX. Two on the front seat, two on the rear seat, and two on George type facing forward extra seats. Folding arm rest to rear seat. Sliding division.

FRAMING AND PANELLING. Body to be framed in best English Ash, and built on the R-R body subframe. The structure is to be scientifically ironed with sheet metal made into gussets by bending and welding. Great care should be taken not to introduce ironing already provided in the subframe, such as body edge-plates.

DOORS. Four doors to open at right-angles or more and hinged on the screen or centre pillars. Hinges to be made of or re-inforced by steel. If of the pin type, the pins must not be less than 5/16ins. dia. Doors to be floating, and locks to have double striking plates. Interior handles and door pulls to be in one. Pattern of outer handle to be chosen later. Maximum thickness of door at waist line at edges to be 2.875. Finishers not to exceed .375ins. in thickness.

HEAD. Leather head and quarters above the waist-line. All known precautions to be taken against drumming and bossing.

WINDSCREEN. Single piece screen hinge at the top and to open outwards. Special attention must be paid to the design which holds the screen open to make sure that it will continue to do so even when the car is driven at speed against a strong wind. Lancegaye Safety Glass to be used .250ins. thick. Screen pillars must be light in section above the waist line. R-R.{Sir Henry Royce} Ltd. to supply the electric screen wiper.

WINDOWS. Windows in the door to be made of Lancegaye Safety Glass, 5/16ins thick, without frames and to rise and fall by the lightest type of chain lifter, e.g. W.T. The lifter handle on the off-side front door to be as indicated on the drawing. Quarter lights made to hinge. Large rear light as drawn.

SCUTTLE VENTILATION. Two flush fitting side ventilators only to be fitted.
