to File SECRET. 3 Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/JH.27.7.40. To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} O.{Mr Oldham} to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/EJH. re Oerlikon Mounting for 40 m/m Gun - Mark V.{VIENNA} Although we were able to make the experimental trunnion brackets for the first gun fitted to the Oerlikon Mounting, by measuring the actual head, we cannot adopt the same procedure for the final design. The arrangement drawing of the mounting which we acquired from Commander Redman has no dimension of the head upon it and by scaling does not agree with the model in the matter of trunnion widths. Could you possibly ask the authorities who have agreed to supply us with the 25 sets of Oerlikon Mountings to supply us in advance with a detail drawing of the head casting. Until we get this we cannot complete the final scheme for mounting the gun, upon which scheme we are now actively engaged. | ||
