ENGINEER'S DEPARTMENT.

13th March, 1923.

Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd.
D E R B Y.

Dear Sirs,

With reference to your letter of the 7th instant, we note the remarks of your Experimental Department regarding Axle Fittings. We have gone very closely into this matter, and have sent one of our Engineers to your Lillie Hall works in London. We fitted a set of these Clips to a 20 H.P. chassis, and find that there is a good clearance, at 15" even with a deflated tyre.

We tried the rear fittings on two different chassis, and they fitted perfectly. We have modified these by fitting a set screw in the bottom half of the clip, so that the fitting will not interfere with the action of the Rubber Bumper Block.

Our Engineer and mechanic demonstrated the fitting of these Clips to the Manager of your Lillie Hall Depot, who was perfectly satisfied with the job.

We are enclosing herewith a blue print, showing the method of fixing the rear clips, so as to avoid interfering with the Tie Rod on the Axle.
