X.3485 XHO79a C. to EFC. EXPERIMENTAL BY/WER7/EF15. 8. 21. X. 3485 - "GOSHAWK" II. COIL FOR BATTERY IGNITION. In connection with the above Unit please receive herewith two photostats of D.50210 General Arrangement. It should be understood that, in detail, this new Coil is identical with the standard 40/50 Chassis Coil L.O.P. D.1167 ("P" Series onwards). There is, however, a slight difference when assembling which will readily be seen by comparing the plan views as shown on D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} 1167 and D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} 50210. As a matter of interest we would point out that if in the future the Coils for "Goshawk" II and the Coils for the present 40/50 Chassis are being manufactured at one and the same time, then, the Coils assembled in accordance with D.50210 can be used on the 40/50 Chassis in place of Coils to D.1167 and thus obviate the necessity of producing Coils which in detail would be the same, but different when assembled. The Coils for "Goshawk" II which are being assembled to D.50210 should have all the mouldings produced in Brown Bakelite. The following is a list of the moulded parts:- (X)D.1002 Coil Case. (X)F.7151 Coil Case Cover. F.7152 Insulating Washer. F.7174 Insulating Disc. F.6602 Securing Nut. F.6610 Insulating Washer. F.6662 H.T.Terminal Head. [Stamped text: RECEIVED 18 OCT 1921] (X) In order to meet the requirements of the 40/50 Chassis an order has been placed with the B.T.H.Co., for supplying us with these mouldings produced in Bakelite, and we believe that moulds for the remainder have already been made by Mr. Brock. Coils for "Goshawk" II should therefore be instructed as follows:- Build to L.O.P D.1167 with the exception that all mouldings should be produced in Brown Bakelite, Assemble to D.50210. BY/WER.
