EB.4101 Filters ex British Filter Co.

With reference to Inspection Dept. report OX.107 dated 4th inst., complaining in regard to the above Filters being received showing signs of rust on the inside of casing and lids.

We have taken up this complaint with makers, and are informed that the lid{A. J. Lidsey} of the original sample submitted was enamelled to prevent rust, but Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl{Len H. Swindell} informed the British Filters Ltd. that this operation was not required - having in mind, we presume, the subsequent chipping of the enamel.

Makers now suggest that to avoid any signs of rust the lid{A. J. Lidsey} should be smeared with grease, and they are going to do this on subsequent supplies, unless Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl{Len H. Swindell} decides otherwise.

With regard to the 60/70 Filters delivered, perhaps you will be good enough to wipe away the rust and smear with grease, as suggested above.

We attach to Mr. Mosby's memo, Inspection Dept.'s report, and the Filters received with the casing dented we presume will be covered by a separate report.

Roy.{Sir Henry Royce}
