contd :- -8- valve reached its maximum lift, the depression in the high speed choke would however vary in exactly the same way as a static carburetter. The depress- ion to operate the piston - which is simply there to give us the pressure difference across the idling system at low engine speeds - could be arranged to be less than ¼" mercury (so we estimate) consequently the carburetter would operate at a much slower depression than the Phantom. The sketch shewn merely indicates the disposition of the parts for clearness and a carb. working on this principle could assume the form shewn in the next sketch which would possess several advantages over the elemental form shewn above.
