Park Ward & Co.Ltd., 473, High Road, Willesden, London N.W.10. Dear Sirs, Re: Body Bracket Drilling Jig B.5. - Production. We wish to confirm our telephone conversation with you yesterday afternoon concerning the drilling jig for the body brackets of the B.5. Production Frames. Unfortunately, due to pressure of work Messrs. Thompsons cannot produce the tubular spine jig of which we shewed you a design last Friday. Under the circumstances, for the first 50 chassis at least, we feel it would be the best policy if you would go ahead and produce a frame girder jig of angle iron suitably braced in the plan view to prevent parallelogramming. The drill bushes can be of case hardened steel. The fact that the jig will not be torsionally rigid does not appear to be of importance. As Messrs. Thompsons are anxious to produce some frames we suggest that you will wish to get this jig produced and in their hands with the minimum of delay. Before parting with it, your assembly horse should be so far advanced as to allow you to have fixed the vertical dowel pins so that this jig can be checked up against it. We feel that this scheme should clear up the frame drilling problem successfully and with the minimum of delay. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. CHIEF ENGINEER - CHASSIS. | ||
