X4013 To Sr. from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Copy to Tr.{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance} re 20/25 HP Chassis. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}7/E14.11.34 With further reference to Sr.21/Dn.7.11.34, it was rather fortunate that your Trials 20/25, GAE-5, had to come over here as it gave us an opportunity of having it thoroughly tested and compared side by side with a 20/25 of the former type, i.e. with the old type carburetter. We find that the results are practically identical. The old one tends to gain on the new one at about 40 miles an hour but is soon overtaken. There is no reason whatsoever why the new model should be any worse for acceleration and maximum speed than the former model and the result of our tests of GAE-5 is that we do not agree that this is down on performance. In view, however, of your general complaint and the Poberejsky complaint in particular we are arranging with Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} to let Hancock call and go into the matter with you when he comes over in the next few days. We believe that one of the reasons why you and one or two other people feel that the new 20/25 is down on performance is because the engines seem to be much smoother, i.e. the whole motor-car feels softer and this, we believe, is due to the improved distribution brought about by the new carburetter.
