WILCOX-RICH CORPORATION Rolls-Royce, Ltd. Page Three June 25, 1934 interest - that you communicate with us and we shall gladly make the proper engineering analysis and recommendations. Incidentally, the hydraulic lifter is adaptable either to the mushroom or cylindrical type lifter and can, as a general rule, be adapted to any reciprocating type of mechanism, whether aviation or heavy duty. SALT-COOLED VALVES Most of our many customers are well familiar with the salt-cooled valve we are now manufacturing under the Heron Patents. It is considered the standard of quality by both the United States Army and Navy and is used extensively in the manufacture of Pratt & Whitney, Wright, and Lycoming engines. In addition to its use in aviation engines, we find considerable attention is being given to the superior advantages of this valve in heavy duty engines; at the present time it is used as standard production on at least six or seven of the finer type engines in this country, while from the number of inquiries we have had within the past month it appears that it will be considered further in this country as well as in Europe. VALVE SEAT INSERTS Another item of general interest is the present tendency toward adoption of valve seat inserts. Passenger car manufacturers in this country have preferred the highly alloyed, straight pressed-in type of insert as manufactured by this Company. It is of the individually cast alloy type, possessing all the qualities necessary in the operation of engines at high speeds and high heats. This material maintains unusually high red hardness and is immune to erosion and the effects of Ethyl Gasoline. It is regarded as of exceptional importance in the development of high compression engines. ********** These are but some of the major items. Other developments of equal importance are being held for future release, as well as further information relative to our varied products. If your present plans call for revision of engine construction, particularly in regard to higher engine output and engine speeds, we earnestly suggest that you communicate with us in order that we may be able to make the proper engineering research and investigation for your particular purposes. Yours very truly, WILCOX-RICH CORPORATION M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Archangeli Export Manager MDA:TS | ||
