HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 4204 To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Copy to WCR.LHS.{Lord Herbert Scott} Ss.{S. Smith}Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}ILS.LA.{L. A. Archer}EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} re Streamline Bodies. Referring to E.11/HP.29.10.34 and Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}3/GC.26.10.34 as soon as I saw the latter I asked LHS{Lord Herbert Scott} to investigate the matter with a view to ascertaining how it was that these bodies were shown at Olympia. I understand the C.S.C. have held a special meeting and that a report is in course of preparation. It certainly seems unfortunate that these bodies were allowed to be shown. One of the things which I know we ought to have an agreement about is the maximum streamline tail permissible. Can we take Mr.Fedden's Bentley as the maximum for a Bentley car? You will remember that this was really evolved out of the original 100 miles an hour car. Mr.Fedden's car has now been in use for 5 months and we have never had - so far as I have heard - any criticism from him of the bad effect on the steering and, when the car was completed, I do not remember hearing anything about its being over-weight. In other words I think the design was generally approved. We also ought to agree what is the maximum tail permissible on a P.II and a 20/25. Perhaps Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} will consult with you on the subject with a view to an agreement being arrived at. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} | ||
