Stiff Steerings. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}31/E.25.3.35. F.{Mr Friese} Dodd will be coming to London early next week on any day which is most convenient, and we are asking him to modify any trials cars that are available to lighten their steerings. Our investigations show that the cross steering tube load can be reduced in certain cases without adversely affecting the steering, but we want a little more experience with this before we recommend it for production. The point is that with a reduction in this load there may be a tendency for steering shocks to increase. Dodd will also try the steering on C's car which has a shorter pendulum lever. After these tests we shall be able to make some recommendations. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
