| 202. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry{Shadwell Grylls}1/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 27th August, 1938. Messrs. Fischer Bearings Company Limited, Upper Villiers Street, WOLVERHAMPTON. (For the attention of Mr. C.E. Hollyhead.) Dear Sirs, We send you herewith, as discussed when you were here, a drawing of the pinion bearing in the Bentley back axle. You will note we are using 35° angle of contact and steel cages. We have had failures of the cage in the thrust half and should like your views on this. The loads on this bearing full throttle in top gear are - 2400 lbs thrust and 1600 journal. We suggest you send us three such bearings for test, and a quotation for lots of 200 spread over a year. Yours faithfully, For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
