Secret. X8030 Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} [crossed out] Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} [crossed out] Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} [crossed out] BY7/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 16. 3. 25. E.A.C. ENGINE. RE TUBES IN CYLINDER & HEAD. I have cabled R.{Sir Henry Royce} as follows:- "RE HIVES REPORT ON COPPER TUBES IN CYLINDERS AND HEAD SUGGEST WE ADOPT AT ONCE IF YOU ARE SATISFIED AS IT WILL REDUCE RISK OF DAMAGE IN EXPANDING TUBES IN. BAILEY." as the use of copper will make the fitting of the tubes certain on first expanding of same. At present two or three attempts are necessary and this gives a grave risk of damage to cylinder unit or head. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} By | ||
