Potential causes and solutions for excessive engine oil consumption.

In view of there being .003" working clearance between the crankpins and the L.B.B. bearings, plus the above mentioned wear in the cylinder bores, plus the holes in the centre of the drilled up type rods we have fitted, excessive oil consumption may be caused at very high speeds until such time as the new piston rings fitted are well run in.

We are writing to the owner to-day upon the matter, as he appears to be rather worried about the matter. We are going to ask him to keep us informed re the oil consumption.

If the engine is really burning up a lot of oil, we presume the only thing to do will be to bore out the cylinders and fit oversize pistons. In the meantime, we shall be glad to have your views upon the matter.
