RE. SCUTTLE SEPARATION.
BY4/P13.6.23.

I give you below an extract from the minutes of the Meeting of the Coachbuilders sub-committee, held on the 21st.inst. at which were present - LHS{Lord Herbert Scott} (in the Chair) C, SG{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}, HO, and Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}

"BY4/P13.6.23 was read. This approves of the suggestion to omit the semi-flexible scuttle attachment scheme on 40/50 HP. Bodies. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} is to be asked for the immediate omission of the old scheme from chassis prints; to shew in its place a suggested separation arrangement. A copy of Barkers blueprint No.703B, shewing the arrangement to be adopted on the new cars for LHS{Lord Herbert Scott}, and Lord Wargrave is to be sent to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} and it is to be suggested to him that a similar scheme would should be shewn upon future chassis prints unless he knows of a better arrangement. At the same time BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} is to be asked whether he sees any reason why the aluminium strip shewn on Barkers blueprint should not have the upward slant reduced as, in the opinion of the sub-committee, this would improve the appearance."

I attach blueprint No.703B, and shall be glad to receive your replies to the suggestions made by the C.B.C. as early as possible.

I give you below an extract from the Minutes of the Meeting of the Coachbuilding Sub-Committee on the 11th.inst., at which were present LHS{Lord Herbert Scott} (in the Chair) C, SG{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}, and Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}

"Memo. BY3/P9.7.23 was read. In this BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} asks for particulars of our experience with the suggested isolation scheme. In reply he is to be told that it has been used on LHS{Lord Herbert Scott}'s old car number 2.LW. for 40,000 miles, with complete success and no apparent disadvantages either mechanical or from the point of view of appearance. It is also adopted on Mr. Hartridge's car No.55.LK.{L. King} Barkers trial car, Lord Wargrave's car No.25-LK{L. King}, and LHS{Lord Herbert Scott}'s new car No.14-LK.{L. King}
