Dear Sir, We have received through Colonel Fell your letter to him ref. L/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale} and noted the claims you make for the Solex Carburetter. Up to the present we have not entertained a very high opinion of the fixed choke class of carburetter for our cars, as we have rarely found them give quite that performance, particularly at low speeds, which is a characteristic of the Rolls-Royce cars. The present RR. carburetter is the result of several years development on our particular engines. We should be very pleased however to take advantage of your offer and test out one of your latest models on our 40/50 HP. engine. We favour the vertical type carburetter for our 40/50 HP. as this arrangement fits in better with our induction system. For your guidance in the selection of a suitable model we supply the following particulars of our engine :- Bore / Stroke 4.25" X 5.5". 6 cylinders. Speed of maximum power output 2500 r.p.m. Throttle diameter of our standard carburetter 2". We should be pleased if you could let us have any literature and dimensions of your carb. as we could then prepare a suitable induction pipe to adapt it to our engine. Yours faithfully, | ||
