Contd. -3- Before putting Dagenite boxes on the market, very exhaustive tests were taken. Boxes were submitted to immersion in acid, in some cases strong acid, heated to 120°, sheets of Dagenite were drilled through and used as separators with electrolytic action going on and every conceivable test, chemical and mechanical was made over a period of 2 or 3 years without the slightest ill effect being found. Many of the identical boxes used in these tests are still in our laboratory and can be seen. The glazed surface of the interior of the box makes it difficult for the acid to get at the material, but we scraped this off and took tests as to the amount of impurity entering the electrolyte. At the end of some months there was only .018 grs. per 100 c.c. of solution. This of course is utterly negligible. All these results obtained by ourselves and the fact that there never has been any troubles at all with Dagenite enables us to have a very great confidence in it. Since we dropped ebonite our troubles with cell containers have practically vanished for it must be remembered that Dagenite cells eliminate the leakage that arises from cracked ebonite cells which has been a source of great trouble.
