X 474 350 To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/KW.27.4.34. Gland on Steering Shafts. Your Department asked us the other day whether we could do without the gland on the steering shaft on the SpectreCodename for Phantom III. The position is that the 20/25 steering shaft has always had a gland and the Ph.II has never had a gland. Enquiries from the Repair indicate that there is little to choose between either scheme with regard to oil leaks. It would therefore appear that we can delete the gland in the case of the SpectreCodename for Phantom III. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
