18.G.IV. EXHAUST SYSTEM. K563.

It has now been decided to drop the WW. silencer in favour of the short type P.II. silencer. We are not yet sure what type of fish tail or downtake pipe will give the best results with this silencer and it will be necessary to test alternative arrangements.

Will you please therefore make up the following in addition to the 2" tail pipe and 2" straight through downtake pipe already instructed.

(1) 1.750" (or nearest available size) tail pipe with the largest of the three fish tails instructed for 18.G.IV. (Silencer flange should not be altered.)

(2) The 2" downtake pipe, front expansion box in thick material, and 2" intermediate pipe which has been made for 18.G.IV for the WW. silencer to be altered so that it is quickly interchangeable with the 2" straight through pipe.
