DUNLOP RUBBER CO.,LTD. TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS: "DUNLOPS, PHONE, BIRMINGHAM" TELEPHONE: ERDINGTON 2121 (P.B.X) EXTENSION NO. 395. YOUR REF: OUR REF: HEP/BMT.191. FORT DUNLOP ERDINGTON BIRMINGHAM 24 Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY. For the attention of S.H.Grylls, Esq. 12th May, 1938. (Dict. 11th) Dear Sirs, 1332. WRAITH EQUIPMENT. Confirming our telephone conversations regarding the above equipment and the possible substitution of 5.00x17 wheels and 7.00-17 tyres, the position concerning wheel material outstanding against order No: 54600, is as follows :- Delivery of 100 wheels has been effected; we have outstanding the remaining material comprising 400 rims, 400 sets of front and rear spokes, 1,200 balance weight blocks (complete with 2,400 rivets) and 400 transfers, giving a total commitment of £165. 14. 6d. It is possible that the rear spokes might be usable in the 5.00 wheel, but spoking diagrams would have to be prepared; this contingency would reduce the amount of debit by £26. On the other hand, provided we received additional orders for Bentley equipment, this material could be used up in this direction. On the matter of tyres, it was explained that we had not developed full plant for the 6.50-17 tyres, and we would be prepared to waive any commitment in this respect. We would, however, be grateful for your early advice as to whether this size of tyre is to be perpetuated, or if it is only to be used on the initial 100 sanction, as we could then - in the latter case - build up stock from plant already in hand.
