PY. FROM DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/M22.4.31. C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} ES. P. 2. L. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} ALL STEERINGS. x7430. We send herewith N. sch. 3267. shewing the seating positions, levers, pedals, and instrument board positions for L. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} steering on P. 2. for all angles of column. DASHBOARD. We suggest that rather than produce a number of dashboards as on the R.{Sir Henry Royce} H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} P. 2. we should at once produce a universal dashboard as already sent to you for R.H. cars on N. scheme 3193. This can be handed by Derby. STEERING COLUMNS. The lengths of the columns and positions of the spheres are the same as on the R.{Sir Henry Royce} H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} cars. SEATING POSITIONS. The seating positions 'C', 'D', 'E', and 'F', are identical with those for the R.H. car, but on all cars for HRAI. at their request the wheel to compressed squab dimension is 15". DASH BRACKETS. These are the same for all steerings. PEDALS. The pedals now used on the 'E' type L.H. chassis are used throughout but special stem lengths are called for on 'C' type all pedals, and 'F' type accelerator pedal. We suggest that if adjustable pedal stems, for which you have a scheme, were adopted this would be easily achieved. The accelerator pedal adjustment would be provided by using stems graded in length. LEVERS. The present 'E' type levers are used throughout. Although they are not perfect for 'C' type we think they should be used as we anticipate little or no demand for this column. To enable the column to be assembled as a unit before mounting we agree that the dash may be slotted at the base, and the cover plate have a rib at the base instead, but we think this should be tested for strength.
