261 L Des SG{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Rila Rmy Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} C.17. SWDL.{Len H. Swindell} Please proceed Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Bruce Gardner - B.117.BL. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}9/R.6.4.38. Referring to your request at a recent Conference that we should see if we could produce a 4¼-litre engine out of experimental pieces for this chassis, we have now looked into the matter, and find that we have a 4¼-litre engine built up as a 25/30 which could by means of a new cylinder head and pistons be converted into a 4¼-litre Bentley. We should propose to use the clutch balance weights and carburetters off the 3½-litre car. We should also have to fit a new set of main bearings. Unless we hear to the contrary before the end of the week, we shall arrange to get hold of Mr. Bruce Gardner's car at the first opportunity, and make the necessary changeover. We estimate that the total expense incurred may be in the neighbourhood of £50. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
