X. 1402. To EFC/T10.9.23. X.1402 - GENERAL TESTS OF COMBINED DYNAMO AND EXTERNAL REGULATORS. (1) CONDUCTANCE LOAD ONLY. Obtain the volt-speed curves for both the cold and hot conditions for :- A.{Mr Adams} Open circuit, and B. External loads corresponding to 1/3, 2/3 and full external conductance corresponding to full load. At the same time observe also in each case the variation of the field current with speed. (2) BATTERY LOAD ONLY. (a) Observe the trickle charge to a fully charged chassis battery with leads of about .05 ohm in circuit. This is expected to be reasonably independent of speed and of temperature within the regulating range. How nearly is it ? (b) Observe maximum ampere output of the combination corresponding to maximum speed at which dynamo will be run on chassis and observe operating voltage at which this occurs. This maximum should occur at the changeover from the non-regulating to the regulating condition when the external resistance is varied. To what extent does this maximum vary with temperature ?
