1305 Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}C/MH.{M. Huckerby} 9th. December 1938. The English Steel Corporation, Vickers Works, SHEFFIELD. For the attention of Mr. Grey. Dear Sirs, Coil Road Springs - Bentley. You have recently supplied us with some springs, piece No. FB.3947. These have been etched with this piece No. in large letters on the first working coil. We consider this practice to be dangerous and liable to cause failure. The place we would prefer them to be marked is on the flat portion at the extreme end of the spring. Will you please see that future supplies are marked in this manner. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
