To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} X200a (3?) Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}26/KW.5.5.36. 5-B-IV. You made a very considerable effort us on the boxed-in side member frame on 5-B-IV. We are satisfied that this represents a definite improvement with which it is worth persevering. In order to get a quick test on the frame we did not bother with the engine mounting, exhaust system, etc. Having proved that the frame is satisfactory we now want to complete the car and make it as nice as we know how. The following pieces have been drawn out by your people, but require a certain amount of work for completion :- (1) The front engine Mounting. You will remember that I spoke to you about this some little time ago, and schemes for a universal front mounting have nearly been completed but have not yet been detailed. (2) A sketch is required for a slight modification to the manifold to prevent the present kink in the exhaust system. (3) The front roll rod Ex.22110 requires adjusting on the drawing board to suit the radius rods to scheme N.S.4178/9/82. (4) The isolated change speed mechanism requires attaching to the boxed-in frame. This covers the drawing work required to complete the car. The other parts we should like to fit to the chassis and which have been completely detailed already are as follows :- | ||
